On Tuesday morning, April 28, the Russian army struck Konotop in the Sumy region with drones. A series of powerful explosions rocked the city during an air raid alert that began during the night. «Shahed» drones were spotted over the city throughout the entire morning.

Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported the assault.

According to him, the occupying army targeted civilian infrastructure and residential buildings.

«Residential buildings are damaged. Administrative buildings are also damaged. Our Central District Hospital has been hit!» the mayor said.

Consequences of the Konotop attack

Authorities report damage to the tram network. Consequently, tram route No. 2 is temporarily suspended to one of the city’s residential districts. Semenikhin later added that «all transport movement has been halted» in Konotop.

Semenikhin further reported that an energy facility was targeted. Parts of Konotop are now without electricity and water supply issues have emerged.

«Part of the energy infrastructure has been destroyed. A section of the city is blacked out. In one neighborhood, water will be supplied on a schedule: 06:00-09:00 and 18:00-21:00,» the mayor stated.
