Peace by summer? Zelenskyy outlines key condition for ending the war
The president explained under what conditions Ukraine could approach peace in the coming months and what the international community must do to achieve this.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that ending the war by summer is possible, but it depends not only on Ukraine. The key role, he said, is played by the position of the United States and Russia’s willingness to take real steps.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in response to questions from the media.
«It depends not only on Ukraine. It depends on America, which must pressure Russia. If there is willingness not only from the Ukrainian side but also from the aggressor, we could manage to end hostilities by summer, ” he said.
The president stressed that Ukraine’s top priority is clear and effective security guarantees. This, he said, is not just about political statements, but about ensuring that further aggression by Russia becomes impossible or is met with a strong response.
Zelenskyy said these guarantees should include, in particular, substantial military support packages from the United States.
He separately emphasized the importance of the economic component. Rebuilding the state and ensuring its resilience requires a large support package — the so-called prosperity package — involving both the United States and European partners.
The president said that Ukraine is ready to move forward with the implementation of the 20-point settlement plan. At the same time, issues related to territories, including parts of Donetsk region, remain difficult due to differing positions of the parties.
«If we find possibilities and steps to move forward, we will proceed with the 20-point plan, which must primarily respect Ukrainians, and submit it to a referendum, ” Zelenskyy added.
