Putin sets two baseline conditions for war’s endgame: Political analyst breaks it down

At this stage, there is little indication that Vladimir Putin is ready to end the war without external pressure from the West.

Russian president Vladimir Putin has outlined two baseline conditions for concluding the war. Without outside pressure, the dictator will certainly not stop.

This assessment came from Dr. Vadym Denysenko, a historian and political analyst, during a broadcast on Espresso TV.

Two core aims behind Putin’s strategy

Denysenko explains that the first goal is securing full control over the Donbas region. The second is building the so-called «Cheburnet» — a sovereign, state-controlled version of the internet in Russia.

«Both objectives are extremely difficult for him to achieve. But without external influence, it’s impossible to imagine Putin voluntarily moving toward ending the war, ” Denysenko noted.

He added that U.S. President Donald Trump currently has no meaningful leverage over Putin. The only real pressure, he said, could come from Tomahawk missiles — weapons capable of crippling Russia’s oil export infrastructure.

According to Denysenko, China could, in theory, bring the war to an end. However, that is constrained by Beijing’s ongoing confrontation with Washington. When China might join the negotiating track on Ukraine remains uncertain, as the broader geopolitical picture continues to shift.

«It’s already clear that we won’t see any rapid breakthroughs along the U.S.–China line. So to say that Putin is ready to end the war without external pressure is to delude ourselves. For now, such pressure is unfeasible for a range of reasons — above all because it hinges on U.S.–China negotiations, ” Denysenko added.
