Ukraine is ready to declare a ceasefire over this year’s Easter holidays, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced. But military analyst Pavlo Narozhny, speaking on 24 Kanal, warns that Russia may exploit the pause for manipulation and to stage new attacks.

Threat of manipulation and buildup of forces

The expert believes the aggressor is unlikely to stick to any agreements. Narozhny says Russia could destroy a target in the Donetsk region, for example a barn, and present it as a strike by a Ukrainian «Flamingo» missile, blaming Kyiv for breaking the ceasefire.

«We are in the midst of a major war. We face a cunning enemy with no moral principles or ethics, ” the expert said.

Risks for civilians

Narozhny noted that holidays increase the danger for civilians due to large gatherings. During the ceasefire, Russia could also safely amass more «Shahed» kamikaze drones for future strikes.

Ukrainians are advised to remain vigilant and heed air raid alerts even during the festive period.
