Russia alters “Shahed” drone attacks in one city, officials reveal

The occupiers have lowered the flight altitude of “Shahed” drones from 3–4,000 metres to 250 metres.

Russia has adjusted its “Shahed” drone attacks on Zaporizhzhia, flying the drones at much lower altitudes.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, says that while the drones used to operate at 3,000–4,000 metres, they flew at about 250 metres during the most recent strike.

“Previously, the enemy launched "Shahed" drones at altitudes of 3,000–4,000 metres. During the latest attack on Zaporizhzhia, however, they flew at 250 metres. They are constantly looking for gaps in our defence,” Fedorov stressed.

He explained that Russia is attempting to circumvent Ukraine’s air defense system. That is why the aggressor is continually adapting its tactics and looking for weaknesses.

Fedorov also mentioned that the occupiers used to rely on the Dnipro River to launch "Shahed" and "Molniya"-type drones. That tactic, however, no longer works. According to him, the effectiveness of "Molniya" drone attacks on Zaporizhzhia has dropped sharply, with fewer than 10% of drones reaching the city.

“The enemy launches dozens of drones, but only a few reach the target — for example, two. On one day, we shot down 86 "Molniyas". That’s a massive effort on its own,” Fedorov added.
