Russia attacks infrastructure in major city: Casualties and damage reported

A Russian attack has damaged infrastructure facilities in Odesa.

The Russian strike on Odesa on Wednesday, July 8, left people dead and injured, according to the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak.

“The enemy struck Odesa… Unfortunately, two people were killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” he wrote.

Lysak added that two other people had also been injured in the strike.

According to him, the Russian strike also damaged infrastructure facilities.

Later, Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that the death toll from the Russian strike had risen.

"Sadly, the death toll from the enemy strike on the Odesa region has risen to four. I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones. Another seven people were injured; six have been hospitalized, with two of them in critical condition. Doctors are doing everything possible to save their lives,” he wrote.

Kiper added that, besides the infrastructure facility, the attack also hit the grounds of a gas station. A passenger minibus and a fuel pump caught fire, but firefighters extinguished all the blazes.

"Emergency crews are continuing to deal with the aftermath of the enemy attack," he said.
