In the Kharkiv region and adjacent areas, Russian troops have begun attacking more frequently, but as a result, they are suffering heavy losses.
Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Joint Forces Grouping, said on We Ukraine TV that Russian forces have intensified their assaults in the Kharkiv region and adjacent sectors, but are paying a heavy price in losses.
Situation in the Kharkiv region — What we know
According to the officer, the enemy is concentrating its heaviest pressure in the Lyman direction. However, an intensification of hostilities is also being recorded in other sectors, particularly the Kupiansk direction, as well as the Southern and Northern Slobozhanskyi directions, where the invaders are also attempting to ramp up activity.
«Right now, there can be as many as 37 combat engagements in total within our zone—that is a high number. For instance, in the Lyman direction alone, there are 20. And that is also a lot. It is more than before,» Viktor Trehubov said.
He added that the rising intensity of the fighting directly impacts the casualty figures of the Russian army. Specifically, over the past 24 hours within the Joint Forces Task Force’s area of responsibility, Russian troops lost around 300 personnel.
Viktor Trehubov remarked that the current situation can already be classified as a large-scale campaign. At the same time, he added that it could eventually subside.
