Russian drones attacked a lyceum in the village of Avdiivka in Novhorod-Siverskyi district, causing significant damage, according to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.

“Late in the evening, Russians destroyed the Avdiivka lyceum in the Ponornytsia community with three "Geranium" drones. The facility was heavily damaged, along with school buses,” he said.

Classes had been held in person until recently, before switching to a mixed format due to frequent air raid alerts.

“The school had a good renovation and a completely new catering unit. Had. Because last night Russia struck it,” he said.

On March 13, a Russian drone also hit the center of Novhorod-Siverskyi, damaging a city library and destroying 24,000 books, the library’s director, Tetiana Kostiukova, told Suspilne.

She said that as of January 1, 2026, the library’s collection consisted of 25,000 items. After the attack by a Russian “Geranium”-type drone, 24,000 books were destroyed. Some burned in the fire, while others were soaked with water during firefighting efforts.
