Ukrainian MP outlines when power outages will end

Russia plans to keep striking Ukraine’s energy sector, an MP said.

The energy situation in Ukraine has deteriorated significantly, with scheduled power outages expected to continue at least until the end of the heating season in spring.

This was said by Serhiy Nahorniak, a member of the ruling Servant of the People faction and the parliamentary Committee on Energy and Housing.

“Right now, almost every day, Russian attacks hit energy facilities. Hits are occurring. Shelters cannot be built quickly, and generation capacity is not increasing,” Nahorniak says.

“That is why the outage schedules will remain in place until the end of the heating season. We must use gas, heat, and electricity efficiently,” the lawmaker stressed.

The MP says that planned electricity restrictions remain a necessary measure to stabilize the power grid. Implementing scheduled outages allows authorities to balance consumption and avoid the risk of accidents that could occur in the event of system overload.

Nahorniak also explains that power cuts may vary depending on the region and the extent of damage to energy infrastructure. In some areas, due to Russian strikes on substations and power lines, restoration work is ongoing around the clock.
