The consequences of the Russian attack on September 20
During the night of September 20, Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine, using 40 missiles of various types and about 580 drones.
This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Dnipro, Mykolaiv region, Chernihiv region, Zaporizhzhia, as well as communities in Poltava, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy and Kharkiv regions were attacked. The enemy deliberately targeted infrastructure, residential neighborhoods and civilian enterprises. A missile with a cluster warhead hit an apartment building in Dnipro.
«As of now, dozens of people are known to have been injured in the shelling. Three people, unfortunately, were killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones, ” the President said.
The Head of State thanked the air defense forces and F-16 pilots who effectively defended Ukraine from cruise missiles, and called on international partners to strengthen the supply of air defense systems and weapons and to expand sanctions against Russia.
«Each such strike is not a military necessity but a deliberate strategy by Russia to intimidate civilians and destroy our infrastructure. That is why a strong international response is needed. Ukraine has proven that it can defend itself and Europe, but for a reliable shield we must act together: strengthen air defenses, increase weapons supplies, and expand sanctions against the Russian military machine and the sectors that finance it. Every restriction on Russia means saved lives. Thank you to everyone who helps and supports us, ” Zelenskyy added.
