Ukrainian troops have received the Leopard-1A5BE tank from Belgium, which is equipped with a unique turret. It has already been tested on a training ground and will take part in combat operations, according to observers at the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies.

The Belgian government announced the shipment of this tank model to Ukraine back in April 2025.

Its main advantage is the Cockerill 3105 turret with a Cockerill HP gun, which allows effective indirect fire (from covered positions).

According to representatives of the Belgian manufacturer John Cockerill, no other Western tank currently has this capability.

The gun in this turret can elevate to a record +42°, the highest for tanks. The C3105 turret is now being offered for installation across the entire Leopard 1 fleet available to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The tank crew has been reduced to three personnel.
