Zaluzhnyi names the most effective modern weapon

High-precision weapons have shown significant flaws in battle: extremely high costs, complexity of use, and very limited availability. In contrast, cheaper drones have proven more effective, changing the situation on the frontline.
This was stated by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, during a discussion with the Athena Lab research center.
«This high-precision weaponry turned out to be extremely expensive, complex to operate, and limited in availability due to excessive demand during high-intensity operations between peer states. It’s also less effective against troops spread across a wide front or protected by fortifications. On the other hand, more effective and cheaper alternatives have emerged, ” Zaluzhnyi noted.
He added that the mass use of drones in combat prompted Ukrainians to start independently developing and producing new UAVs. For example, FPV drones began to be produced by the tens of thousands in garages, small workshops, and even in spaces generally unsuitable for weapons manufacturing. This, he said, is changing the course of the war.
According to Zaluzhnyi, expanded drone production by 2027 will make it possible to supply troops with these tools in both quantities and at prices suitable for large-scale warfare. A similar strategy, appears to be favored by both China and Russia.
Moreover, Zaluzhnyi believes that a race has already begun for dominance between drones and electronic warfare (EW) systems. But for now, drone manufacturers hold a slight advantage.
