Russian Invaders Manipulate and Distort Facts About Real Situation at ZNPP – Enerhoatom 

Russian invaders are lying, manipulating the facts, distorting the information about the actual situation at Zaporizhzia Nuclear Power Plant and spreading only those reports about the visit of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA’s) mission visit that are convenient for the Russian government, Enerhoatom claims.

Russians are paying efforts in order to deny opportunity for the IAEA mission to examine the real situation at ZNPP. The invaders are deliberately spreading fake and manipulative information about the visit:

•  The “global mass media from the whole world” , who arrived at the plant on September 1st, are mostly represented by Russian propagandist. The invasion army’s troops deployed at the Russian checkpoints denied access to ZNPP for the buses with Ukrainian and foreign reporters traveling to the plant through Ukraine-controlled territory.

•  The invaders are laying, distorting facts and evidences regarding Russian artillery attacks against the plant, as well as regarding the consequences of ZNPP infrastructure damage. Unsurprisingly, they accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

•  During the IAEA visit, the invaders tried to pose the military trucks parked at the turbine islands of power-generation units in breach of the nuclear safety regulations as the chemical defense hardware. The Russian leadership attempts to hide multiple committed breaches of nuclear and radiational safety regime behind tons of lie and manipulations.

•  The invaders did not allow the IAEA mission to ZNPP crisis center, where the Russian military personnel was transferred in order to hide the troops from the IAEA representatives. In other words, a part of armed Russian invaders deployed at the nuclear power plant was essentially “put out of sight”. 

•  The invaders “presented” the mission with well-prepared staged fake show of “Enerhodar civilians complaining about artillery attacks by Ukrainian forces ”. In particular, the local residents provide eyewitness accounts of attacks, which the invaders consistently attempt to pin on Ukrainian defenders.

•  The invaders deliberately jammed Internet and mobile communications in Enerhodar in order to prevent transmission of photos and videos from ZNPP and its satellite town”.

•  Now the invaders allow only operational personnel to Zaporizhzhia NPP and have substantially restricted civilian presence in the areas of the scheduled IAEA visit.

"We understand that under the said conditions, it would be extremely difficult for the IAEA to express an impartial opinion regarding the situation at the NPP. Meanwhile, we stress that it is impossible to properly comply with the mission’s recommendation regarding restoration of nuclear and radiational safety at the plant, while it is controlled by the Russian invasion forces”, Enerhoatom stressed.
