Russians Launched the First Stage of Offensive, Escalation is Possible - Expert

Ukraine expected a sharp large-scale Russian offensive, but this did not happen. Currently, the invaders have started to intensify their activities in several areas: Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Vuhledar, as military expert Vladyslav Selezniov said in an interview with Obozrevatel.

According to him, the Russians have deployed a large number of forces and equipment, in particular near Vuhledar, but they continue to suffer huge losses and have no success.

Selezniov emphasizes that this is only the first stage of a large-scale Russian offensive - reconnaissance by combat. It is too early to say that Russia's attack has failed. According to the expert, invaders are now amassing forces and resources in the south of Zaporizhzhia Region and in Luhansk Region.

"The situation tends to escalate. I will not dare to say that the plan of Putin's army has completely failed. By the way, regarding Bakhmut, I believe that within the next two days (February 11 and 12 - ed.), the situation will become clear," Selezniov said.

He added that it was very important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hold not the positions in Bakhmut, but the roads connecting Bakhmut to the mainland, as the logistics of Ukrainian garrisons in that area depended on it.
