The implementation of a corps structure in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a long-overdue decision, but it is important that it be effective rather than merely formal.

This was stated by Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Deputy Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade Maksym Zhorin.

According to him, corps have existed in the army before, but their structure was more administrative than truly combat-oriented. Units belonging to the same corps often fought in different sectors of the front, making effective coordination impossible.

"If we are talking about corps as a more effective system of troop management and the scaling of successful units, then all military units within a corps must fight in the same direction," Zhorin emphasized.

He expresses hope that the new organizational structure of the Ukrainian army will take past mistakes into account and make troop management more effective.
