Ukraine and Portugal have concluded a bilateral security agreement. Specifically, it includes assistance for the Ukrainian military this year.
Office of the President reported this.
According to the document, in 2024, Portugal has committed to providing Ukraine with at least 126 million euros in military support, including material and financial contributions. It is noted that this year, Lisbon has already allocated 100 million euros to the Czech initiative for the purchase of ammunition in support of Ukraine.
In addition, the agreement confirms Portugal's participation in the F-16 coalition, the international maritime security capabilities coalition, as well as in the program for the procurement of large-caliber ammunition, demining efforts, and strengthening maritime security.
The agreements provide for cooperation between the two countries in the defense industry, intelligence, combating organized crime and propaganda, as well as countering chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear risks.
The agreement also confirms Portugal's support for Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO, as well as the Ukrainian peace formula.
