Ukrainians have demonstrated in this war how much drones can do to protect positions and save lives, showing how crucial it is to continuously develop the unmanned component.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy - President of Ukraine
Ukrainian drone production and their constant modernization are one of the key elements of the system to deter Russia, which is necessary to ensure Ukraine’s long-term security.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the Staff meeting on March 12.
Increasing the capability of Ukrainian weapons to overcome Russian electronic warfare and air defenses remains a key issue, President Zelenskyy said.
"Today I held a Staff meeting – Technology Staff. Primarily regarding our drones and the long-range strikes of Ukrainian drones… We managed to discuss many technical details today. The key point is that we need to enhance the ability of our weapons to overcome Russian EW and air defenses," he noted.
According to him, the production and ongoing modernization of drones are among the critical components of the system to deter Russia, which is essential for guaranteeing Ukraine’s long-term security.
"This will also become our international advantage – our ability to export security after this war," the President stated.
He added that there is already international interest in Ukrainian developments, capabilities, and technological production.
"Of course, this will also serve as our economic advantage in relations with other partners. But that’s after the war. For now, we must significantly increase the effectiveness of Ukrainian weapons; and everything achieved for Ukraine’s security today will benefit Ukraine for years and decades to come," Zelenskyy emphasized.
