Russian dictator-president Volodymyr Putin, following Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election, hopes that Washington will stop providing aid to Ukraine. Additionally, the "führer" may be planning to discredit Ukraine.

This opinion was shared by military expert Oleh Zhdanov in an interview with "Glavred".

"For us, this is a problem. Putin is now rubbing his hands in anticipation of when the supply of weapons and funds will stop. Putin will do everything possible to discredit our country, portraying it as unreliable for negotiations. He may also start a campaign, pressing the idea that the government in Ukraine is illegitimate," Zhdanov said.

Zhdanov also believes that the Kremlin leader may attempt to freeze the war in Ukraine for several years. During this time, the dictator hopes to strengthen his forces and gather more weapons.

"Putin will try to temporarily – for several years – halt the fighting in order to bring up his troops, equipment, and weapons. Moreover, Trump promises to lift sanctions, which means Russia's economy will get the components it lacks for weapon production," the military expert concluded.
