A Ukrainian MP explains why Russia is targeting gas infrastructure:
The enemy has thoroughly prepared and is delivering precise strikes on gas infrastructure.

Russian invaders are launching missile attacks on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure because Moscow knows that Ukraine lacks sufficient domestic gas reserves.
Oleksiy Kucherenko, a Ukrainian Member of Parliament, said this.
He says that the enemy is well-prepared and is carrying out targeted strikes on gas infrastructure.
“They’re hitting gas production facilities with "Kalibr" missiles, targeting key extraction sites. The Russians understand that the gas sector is going to be a major problem for us. It’s already problematic now, and it will be an issue next year, two years, three years, and so on. We have a shortage of our own gas. We don’t have enough domestic gas, they’re hammering our production, and they’re also striking our storage facilities,” the MP said.
Kucherenko suggested that Russia might be trying to force Ukraine to resume gas supplies to Hungary and Slovakia through these actions.
“But indeed, the gas transportation infrastructure is currently target number one. Unfortunately, we will remain dependent on imports. Gas prices will be very high. We’ll need to find money somewhere to purchase this gas,” he says.
The MP adds that Ukraine will have to spend a lot of money on buying energy resources if the situation does not change.
