Yesterday, around 23:00, information started to come in about the takeoff of three strategic missile-carrying bombers, Tu-95MS. It was evident that Russia was preparing for another missile strike on Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed by military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko in his Telegram channel.

It is noted that during the night of May 22, the following missiles were launched across Ukraine:

4 - X-101/555

5 - X-22

2 - Iskander-M

The expert says that, on the one hand, it was impossible to intercept the X-22 missiles, since their flight and the place of impact were outside the range of the Patriot air defense system. Similarly, with the Iskander-M ballistic missile. On the other hand, the interception rate of available targets was 100%.

"I would like to draw attention to the involvement of a disproportionately large number of Tu-95MS aircraft in this missile strike and the launch of only 4 X-101 missiles. I don't know, perhaps some of the missiles simply did not reach Ukraine and fell somewhere in the Voronezh region, but it's 1 missile per 1 Tu-95MS aircraft. It is possible that due to a shortage of X-101 ammunition, the occupiers resorted to other types, including X-22 missiles that haven't been used for a long time. In addition, 5 Tu-22M3 aircraft were used as carriers for the X-22 missiles, although one such aircraft, in theory, can carry 3 X-22 missiles," the expert wrote.

According to his statement, several preliminary conclusions can be drawn from this missile strike.

First, the Russians have restrictions on the use of missile carriers that have significant resource depletion, and they try not to overload them.

Second, Russia faces a production shortage of missiles, but in order to conceal this and create the illusion of unlimited potential, they will continue to launch strikes with limited ammunition of various types with a frequency of every 2-3 days.

Third, considering the frequency of kamikaze drone attacks and the regular flights of military transport Il-76TD aircraft from Iran to Moscow, there are grounds to believe that Iran has been able to increase the production of Shahed-136 drones.

"Finally, I would like to note, as always, the high level of performance of our air defense systems on available targets. And a separate icing on the cake is the destruction of the Su-35 multi-purpose fighter. It is difficult to say at the moment by what means and under what circumstances this enemy military aircraft was destroyed. We have limited information, but the fact itself is already an important indicator," the expert summarized.
