The Russian army continues to attack strategic objects in Ukraine, including the energy system, gas transportation infrastructure, airfields, and defence-industrial complex enterprises.
This was stated by Vadym Skibitsky, Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, as early as 2023, Russian documents clearly outlined the targets for attacks by drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. These included:
the command system of the Armed Forces and Defence Forces;
aviation and military airfields;
energy infrastructure facilities;
Ukraine’s gas transportation system;
the defence-industrial complex.
Skibitsky says that the Russians have changed their approach to attacks, using a targeting tactic – careful planning of strikes for maximum effect. The enemy tries to destroy critical infrastructure, especially before the winter period.
"We have already seen attacks on thermal power plants. Particularly powerful strikes were in the Kharkiv region, where the occupiers tried to leave people without heating. The gas transportation system and gas fields are also suffering, as the Russians seek to deprive Ukraine of its own gas," the Defence Intelligence representative said.
He added that the enemy is paying special attention to Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex, trying to destroy the production of ammunition, drones, and other weapons.
Ukrainian defence forces continue to repel attacks and strengthen the protection of strategic objects, but the threat of strikes from Russia remains high.
