Denisova: "One million Ukrainians have already been deported to Russia"

Denisova said that one million Ukrainians have already been deported to Russia, including 182,000 children.

Russian invaders have already deported about 1 million Ukrainians to Russia, of whom 182,000 are children.

This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova in an interview with Blick.

"Currently, about one million Ukrainians have been deported to Russia. 182,000 of them are children. They are distributed throughout Russia, especially in poor regions, to help develop the economy," Denisova said.

According to the ombudsman, Ukrainians are being questioned in filtration camps in Russia, in particular, about their attitude to the "Russian mission" in Ukraine.

"If Russians don't like the answer, they check the documents - if they exist at all - and look for them on their mobile phones. Such people are taken to remote regions, others can stay near Ukraine," Denisova said.

At the same time, Putin is using deported to Russia Ukrainians for propaganda purposes, claiming that these people were allegedly forced to flee Ukraine and that he should protect them.

Denisova also said that some Ukrainians are now returning to their homes, primarily due to lack of earnings, food and support - about 1.1 million such people, mostly are from Kyiv region.

At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights criticized the work of the Geneva-based International Committee of the Red Cross, which had previously opened an office in the Rostov region in southern Russia. Denisova noted that the main task of the ICRC should be to register refugees and support their return to Ukraine. In addition, many refugees also complain that the Red Cross "only gives them pita bread and instant spaghetti."

Denisova also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation are working out a solution that will allow Ukrainians forcibly deported to the Russian Federation to obtain certificates at foreign consulates in Russia.
