Difficult Situation in Donbas and Artillery Strikes in Kherson: Recent Developments in Ukrainian Regions on December 18th
Invaders shelled eastern and southern parts of Ukraine.
The night was relatively quiet without any attacks in Volyn, Zakarpattia, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Ternopil, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Cherkasy Regions. Regional Military Administrations report about the most recent developments in Ukrainian Regions.
Sumy Region: yesterday, on December 18th, the enemy shelled Ukrainian borderline areas using different types of weapons. A total of 20 shells landed in Znob-Novhorod, Seredyna-Buda and Shalyhine communities. Luckily, there were no human casualties or property damage.
Zaporizhia: Over the past 24 hours, the invaders shelled civilian infrastructure near the settlements of Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Chervone, Malynivka, Novodanylivka, Temyrivka, Stepove, Kamianske, Mali Shcherbaky, Zaliznychne, Dorozhnianka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Preobrazhenka and Plavni. The local authorities have received over 10 reports about destruction of civilian houses (apartments) and infrastructure facilities as a result of artillery attacks by Russian military personnel. More detailed information about attack consequences will be provided later.
Dnipro Region: last night, the Russian artillery shelled Nikopol District at least five times. The enemy shells landed in Nikopol, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka community . A 59-year-old man was injured in Nikopol and admitted to hospital for treatment. At least 5 private houses, several outbuildings and a local school were damaged in the city. Luckily, there were no human casualties in Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. More detailed information about attack consequences will be provided later.
Kharkiv Region: the Russian troops launched several artillery strikes against borderline areas in the region, however luckily there were no human casualties. In Chuhuiv District, a 32-year-old State Emergencies Service officer was injured in the landmine explosion and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Luhansk Region: Russian invaders attempted offensive operations in Stelmakhivka and Serebriankse forestry. In the Kupiansk area, invaders shelled Nevske, Novoselivka and Stelmakhivka. In the Lyman area, the enemy shelled Makiivka, Ploshchanka, Dubrovka and Chervonopopivka. The situation in the region is currently described as difficult.
Donetsk Region: during the past 24 hours, violent hostilities continued in Bakhmut and Avdiivka areas. The enemy consistently shelled critical infrastructure facilities in Kurakhove community. The situation in the region remains difficult, however, Ukrainian engineers are gradually restoring communications and power supply. During the past 24 hours, 1 person was killed and 1 person was injured in Donetsk Region.
Mykolaiv Region: over the past 24 hours, the enemy shelled the water area in Ochakiv community from multiple rocket-launching systems. Luckily, there were no human casualties.
Kherson Region: the enemy continues to barrage towns and villages in the right-bank part of Kherson Region. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian shells landed in Kozatske, Tiahinka, Nikolske, Dniprovske, Respublikanets, Novokairi, Charivne, Olhivka and Kherson. Over the past 24 hours, the invaders also barraged Korabelnyi District of Kherson from multiple rocket-launching systems and heavy artillery. A 36-year-old man who was driving in his car was killed on site. A 70-year-old woman was admitted to hospital with injuries. The invaders also barraged the village of Stepanivka in Kherson suburbs from mortars. The shells hit the humanitarian aid headquarters. One woman died because of severe injuries, and two more people were admitted to hospital. The enemy shells damaged a local school building, a hospital and a church.
A total of 3 people were killed and 6 persons were wounded in Kherson Region over the past 24 hours due to enemy strikes. In addition, the Russian army attacked Kherson Geriatric Center in the village of Stepanivka. The Center’s gates, windows and door were broken, the roof and porch were damaged in the strike. Luckily, there were no human casualties. The local authorities continue the emergency repair operations to resume normal life in Kherson Region. The utility workers are cleaning the roads. The National Police’s EOD squads have inspected 8 hectares of territories and discovered 377 explosive. The EOD specialists from the State Emergency Service have inspected 10 hectares, removed and destroyed 169 explosive devices.
