Double strike on Sumy revealed Ukraine's weak point: an aviation expert
The number of "Shahed" drones used by Russia in Ukraine has significantly increased, an aviation expert noted.
Russian strike on Sumy
The deadly double strike by Russia on Sumy highlighted the need for a strategic solution to defend against the "Shaheds."
This was shared by the deputy general director of the company for the production of electronic warfare equipment, aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi on the air of Espreso.
"The number of "Shaheds", launched on the territory of Ukraine by the Russians, has increased significantly. Previously, they were using up to 400 units per month, but now it's around 1,200. We face the necessity of strengthening our air defense capabilities, for example, by increasing air defense systems and electronic warfare systems," - he remarked.
He believes it is now time for Ukraine to engage more actively in negotiations with the West regarding long-range strikes against Russia.
"It is time to communicate more actively with our Western partners about reducing the potential of Russia through strikes on its territory. No air defense, even if all air forces align with Ukraine, will be able to protect against such a Russian drone onslaught," Khrapchynskyi stated.
He points out that Russia is actively modernizing its drones, and according to his information, they already have Starlink for communication support.
"...But in any case, we need to understand that the amount of weaponry Russia is using, along with the guided aerial bombs used daily for strikes on Kharkiv, Sumy and now even on Zaporizhzhia, can only be neutralized through strategic decisions - specifically, strikes on Russian territory, targeting production facilities and warehouses," he said.
