On Monday, December 19th, Russia again attacked the territory of Ukraine with Iranian drones. Objects of critical infrastructure came under attack once again. From the moment when Ukraine was first attacked with drones, Russia changed the tactics of their usage.
The spokesman of the Air Force Command of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat told about this on the air of the FreeDOM TV channel.
According to him, Russia has given up daytime drone attacks.
"In the morning and during the day, they attack with cruise missiles, mainly X-101, “Kalibr”. Shaheds have been used mainly at night for quite some time. At first, they attacked during the day, starting on September 13th, when the first drone was spotted and shot down in Kupyansk of the Kharkiv region. Then they began to break through in small groups in Odesa, Mykolaiv region, Kharkiv region - 5-6, 10 and up to 20 drones. The enemy studied how our air defense reacts to them. Then they began to use them at night, seeing that they are also obtained from small arms," Ignat explained.
Currently, Russia uses kamikaze drones mainly between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. This allows the enemy to visually hide their targets.
"Unfortunately, our fighters are outdated, and this makes it difficult to shoot down the Shaheds. Therefore, the basis for today is the anti-aircraft missile forces... We just need better quality planes so that our pilots can do it more efficiently," Yuriy Ignat noted.
