Men Are Caught Right on the Streets: Fedorov about Mobilization in Melitopol

Forced mobilization campaign continues in Russia-controlled territories, including the city of Melitopol.

According to Mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov, currently no residents of Russia-controlled territories are immune to forced recruitment into the ranks of the Russian army as he said in his interview for FREEDOM channel.

According to him, the men are stopped right on the streets and taken to the military commandant’s office or so-called military commissioner’s office created by the invaders in Melitopol.

"People are interrogated about their background and kept there between few hours to one day. After that, they are released, but instructed to constantly keep in touch in case, if there is a decision to mobilize them.

According to Federov, the local invasion authorities ordered to create the “volunteer battalion” of three thousand men. However, they are struggling with founding enough volunteers, so the so-called “volunteer battalion” is even advertised online on the OLX platform. The Mayor says that even young men you recently turned 18 are drafted to the Russian Army.
