Men in Crimea Have Started to Receive Russian Army Draft Notices: Details

Residents of the illegally annexed Ukrainian Crimea are receiving the Russian Army draft notices through the public service website.

Meanwhile, Russian military commissioners in Crimea are "catching" men right on the streets to serve summonses, CrimeaSOS reports.

"According to CrimeaSOS’ information, men in the temporarily seized Crimea have started to receive draft summonses to the Russian army through the public service website. If a man does not check his personal account on the public service website for several days, a summon will be automatically considered as received," Oleksii Tilnenko, the President of CrimeaSOS Board, says.

Moreover, there are some reports that Russian law-enforcement officers are patrolling the streets of cities and searching for men of conscription age to hand over summonses.

The organization notes that the decision on partial mobilization, which dictator Putin announced on September 21st, also applies to the temporarily seized territories, which is qualified as war crime. Forced mobilization is prohibited by the Geneva Convention.

"Forcing citizens of the opposing side to take part in military actions directed against their own state is forbidden by the Hague Conventions It is also a violation of the rules and customs of war, according to the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the report reads.
