German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit. One of the topics discussed with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The press service of the President of Kazakhstan reported this.

Commenting on the conflict in Ukraine, Tokayev stated that "Russia is unbeatable" and suggested that continued warfare could have consequences for the entire world.

"It is a fact that, from a military standpoint, Russia is unbeatable. Further escalation of the war will lead to irreparable consequences for all of humanity and, first and foremost, for all countries directly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict," the head of Kazakhstan said.

Tokayev also mentioned that a good opportunity for achieving at least a ceasefire was lost with the refusal to sign the Istanbul Agreement. "However, the possibility for achieving peace still exists. It is necessary to carefully consider all peace initiatives from various states and reach a decision to stop hostilities, and then proceed to discuss territorial issues. In our view, the peace plans from China and Brazil deserve support," he stated.

Tokayev said that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia continued to develop within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance.

At the same time, he underscored that Kazakhstan "feels sympathy" for the Ukrainian people. "Kazakhstan has genuine sympathy for the Ukrainian people and their distinctive culture. There have never been disagreements between our countries. Our embassy continues to operate in Kyiv," he added.
