In 2024, Russia has conducted 12 major attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, launching approximately 1,100 missiles, including both cruise and ballistic types.

This was stated by Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Serhiy Kyslytsya, during a UN Security Council meeting, Ukrinform reports.

"Last Friday's attack marked the 12th strike by Russia on our energy infrastructure just in 2024. For these attacks, Russia has used about 1,100 missiles – both cruise and ballistic," Kyslytsya said, noting that this figure pertains solely to missiles launched at Ukraine's energy facilities.

He said that the latest attack was one of the largest in scale, with Russia using 94 missiles and 193 drones. Kyslytsya expressed gratitude to international partners for supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities.

"Their contribution is not only an act of solidarity but also crucial steps to prevent genocide," the diplomat added.

Ukraine's envoy to the UN described support for Ukraine as a noble and principled commitment that will be forever recorded in history.

He also stressed that Russia continues to use poisonous munitions, causing casualties among Ukrainian military personnel — to date, 4,950 such cases have been documented, with over two thousand injured.

"There remains a large amount of other deadly weapons in Russian stockpiles, mostly from Soviet times, and guided aerial bombs are among the most lethal. In just one week, Russia launched nearly 500 guided aerial bombs at Ukrainian positions, as well as at residential areas in Ukrainian cities," Kyslytsya stated.

The Ukrainian diplomat highlighted that Russian forces deliberately target not only civilians but also emergency service workers and humanitarian personnel.

"Intentional targeting of civilians, children, and emergency response services constitutes a war crime, underscoring the necessity for the international community to hold Russia accountable and intensify efforts to protect Ukraine's most vulnerable populations," Ukraine's representative to the UN added.

He thanked the UN, partners, and donors for their assistance and urged them "to keep Ukraine at the center of the global humanitarian agenda alongside other affected regions."
