Russian Invaders Keep Izium Residents as Hostage to Use Them as “Human Shield” – Mayor’s Office
Russian troops have ruined the entire heat supply system and destroyed healthcare facilities in the town of Izium.

Izium residents are trapped in the town by Russia troops who don’t let them out and use them as human shield against the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as Maksym Strelnyk, the Head of Youth, Sport and Image Project Department of Izium City Council, reported.
"The worst thing is that they keep hostage local civilians who want to evacuate from the city realizing that the upcoming hearing system will be an extreme crisis. Unfortunately, most residents are still trapped in the sieged city. The invaders are keeping our compatriots as the prisoners. They are using them as the human shield against the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, Strelnyk said.
According to the official, the Russian troops have ruined the entire heat supply system and destroyed healthcare facilities in Izium. The town is facing extreme lack of medicines. However, the invaders refuse to open any humanitarian routes for delivery of essential supplies.
"Some healthcare professionals are still staying in the city, and they attempt to provide medical care for the residents, however even the simplest diseases cannot be treated because of lack of antibiotics, insulin and other basic essential medicines”, Strelnyk added.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are pushing the enemy and moving towards Izium.
"There is some success, which I cannot mention publicly, but our troops are approaching Izium", Strelnyk summarized.
