During the press conference in Kyiv, Erik Möse, Chairman of the independent international UN commission investigating violations in Ukraine, stated that the commission has not yet reached a conclusion that genocide is occurring in the country.

This information is reported by "Radio Svoboda".

"At this stage, we have not yet reached the conclusion that genocide is occurring (in Ukraine). We are well aware of concerns and accusations regarding this crime... At the moment, we do not have sufficient available evidence that meets the legal qualifications outlined in the Genocide Convention. You remember that this is a question of intent, the intent of the criminals. There must be an “intent” to destroy a certain group," Erik Möse said.

However, the Head of the UN's independent international commission says that the investigation in Ukraine will continue.

According to him, earlier the commission already noted that "there were certain statements in the Russian mass media that could possibly be related to the issue of incitement to genocide."

"This is one line that we follow and we will explore it. But there are no conclusions yet," says Möse.

Erik Möse added that "this issue should not be considered in isolation from our other findings."
