Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responds to Putin’s statement on "Oreshnik" missile strike

Ukraine has the full right under international law to target any legitimate military targets on Russian territory, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said.

Ukraine has repeatedly employed long-range capabilities against targets in the temporarily occupied territories, but Putin only started to panic when targets on Russian soil were struck. This demonstrates his clear understanding of the difference between Russian territory and the areas he is attempting to steal from Ukraine, Tykhyi stated.

"To be clear: Ukraine has the full right under international law to strike any legitimate military objectives on Russian territory. Ukraine is defending itself in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. Russia has only itself to blame for the consequences of its decision to attack Ukraine," he concluded.
