President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine values its allies and our common security. Ukraine has received signals from NATO that formulations regarding our country's security are being discussed. However, these formulations pertain only to an invitation and not to Ukraine's membership.

The Head of State wrote about this in his Telegram post on July 11, the first day of the Summit in Vilnius.

"And we always value open dialogue. Ukraine will be represented in Vilnius, at the NATO summit. Because that's respect. But Ukraine also deserves respect. On our way to Vilnius, we received signals that formulations are being discussed without Ukraine's involvement. And I want to emphasize: these formulations pertain only to an invitation, not to Ukraine's membership. It is unprecedented and absurd when there are no timeframes for either the invitation (!) or Ukraine's membership; and instead, some strange formulation about "conditions" is added, even for inviting Ukraine... It seems like there is no readiness to invite Ukraine to NATO or make it a member of the Alliance. Thus it means that there remains an opportunity to bargain for Ukraine's membership in NATO - in negotiations with Russia. And for Russia, this means motivation to continue its terror. Uncertainty is weakness. And I will openly discuss this at the Summit," emphasized the President.
