What air defense systems does Ukraine need to protect big cities: Spokesperson for the Air Force Command explained

Ukraine needs more air defense systems from Western partners to close the airspace of large cities.

Yuriy Ignat, Spokesperson for the Air Force Command of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, told about this on the air of the Freedom TV channel.

"We need more systems to cover more large cities, critical infrastructure facilities, nuclear power facilities. We need Patriot and SAMP/T first and foremost to protect these critical infrastructure facilities — both dams and nuclear power facilities. It is clear that the enemy will not attack power units, but he has already attacked substations several times. And the substation serves the nuclear energy facility, the operation of this substation depends on it. Therefore, both Patriot and SAMP/T are needed for protection against ballistic missiles. The radius of action in this case is 40 km," Yuriy Ignat said.

According to his words, the range of action against aerodynamic targets such as planes, helicopters, UAVs, and cruise missiles is up to 150 km under favorable conditions. Therefore, these systems will allow us to significantly strengthen certain directions. Recently we have received the IRIS-T. We are waiting for the SAMP/T.
