President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that some countries are afraid to talk about Ukraine's NATO membership because it requires certain conditions.
The Head of State made this statement in Vilnius during a joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv understands that it cannot become the next member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as long as Ukraine is at war with the aggressor, Russia.
"We are reasonable people, and we understand that some are really afraid to talk about our membership now. No one wants a world war. It is clear and logical... Ukraine understands that it cannot be a member of NATO while the war is going on. We have met with many today, and Ukraine will be a NATO member when the appropriate conditions are met. By that, I mean when it is safe on our land," stated the President of Ukraine.
