Budanov states that Russia sees itself as an empire.
Chief of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, said that if Russia gains control over Ukraine, its next target would be Poland.
Budanov made this statement during a special meeting of the YES on February 24.
He noted that Russia views itself as an empire, not a federation. According to the intelligence chief, the Russian Federation aims to restore an empire similar to the Soviet Union, but with the countries of the former Warsaw Pact included.
"If the worst-case scenario happens, and three countries unite into one (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine – Ed.), which is almost impossible, the next target will be Poland. I'm telling you this directly. And we shouldn’t fear this, we should understand it. Then it will be the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria. All the countries will go back. The countries of the Warsaw Pact — that’s, as they say, the minimum goal if an empire forms. After that, we’ll see what happens, sorry," Budanov said.
