Ukraine must be prepared for a deterioration in the front-line situation if the war does not end by 2025. This opinion was expressed by the head of the "Come Back Alive" Foundation and veteran of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), Taras Chmut, as reported by News.LIVE.
Chmut mentioned that he shared the forecasts of the Defence Intelligence chief Budanov, regarding the possible end of the war this year, but at the same time, he stated that his foundation is preparing for the worst scenarios.
"In our work, we operate on the hypothesis that things will either stay as they are now or get worse. We are focused on these two scenarios," the head of "Come Back Alive" said.
According to him, if there is a halt in active combat operations — a ceasefire, peace, or victory — that would be a great scenario, but the foundation has to be prepared for worse outcomes. This includes the continuation of active hostilities, a Russian offensive, and a decrease in support from the US and other partners.
"We must prepare for the worst — then you are ready for it. And if it doesn't happen, then everything is great. We (the "Come Back Alive" Foundation) did everything possible. We approached the full-scale invasion with such a scenario and, as an organization, we have worked through it as effectively as possible," Chmut concluded.
