Despite the onset of winter cold, the situation on Ukraine’s frontlines remains highly intense. The Defense Forces face significant risks of losing Kurakhove, Pokrovsk and several other settlements in the east. However, military leadership and frontline fighters are doing everything possible to stop the enemy.

The new Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatiy, told this in his first interview with TSN.ua correspondent Natalia Nahorna after his appointment.

According to Drapatyi, the priority is to concentrate all efforts on critical directions where the loss of settlements is a threat.
“This is the main task. It may also require redistributing forces and resources. At the same time, we need to think ahead - not just about tomorrow but about a month, two months, or six months from now. We must restructure and prepare the system to address all potential challenges,” the Ground Forces Commander said.

He suggests that the enemy likely aims to push further into Ukrainian territory.

“Are you sure it will stop at Kurakhove? I am not. Local commanders better understand the threats and what decisions need to be made. I am confident that the Armed Forces' command is doing everything possible to stabilize the situation and prevent further enemy advances,” Drapatyi concluded.
