Today's session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was canceled due to a potential threat of shelling in the government quarter. Local residents and employees of nearby offices were also warned of the danger.
This was reported by MPs from various factions in comments to Suspilne.
According to Mykyta Poturaiev, an MP from the "Servant of the People" party, there is an elevated threat of a missile attack. Therefore, it was important to reduce the number of people in the potentially dangerous zone, he emphasized.
"Not only was the decision made to cancel the session, but all Rada services and committee secretariats are not working today. The number of people in the Cabinet of Ministers, the Presidential Office, and other government institutions in the area has also been minimized. Decisions were made by the security bodies based on intelligence information regarding the threat of a missile strike on this area. Enhanced security measures apply not only to the Rada but also to everyone working and living there," Poturaiev said.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, an MP from the "Holos" party, confirmed his colleague's statement that today's session was canceled due to information about a potential shelling.
"This doesn’t mean the attacks will definitely happen, it’s just a warning. And since nothing critical was planned for Friday, the session was rescheduled to the next plenary week. At least someone still thinks the Rada is the center of decision-making," the MP emphasized.
