Pokrovsk’s fate could hit another city, expert warns
Huliaipole is located in a low-lying area, which complicates its defense.
War.
Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia region could face the same fate as Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in Donetsk region.
Military analyst Denys Popovych said this on Hromadske Radio.
Huliaipole faces greater danger if Russian forces take Rivnopillya, Popovych said. Currently, according to him, there are reports the enemy is already present there. If occupied, it would become easier for the invaders to strike Huliaipole with drones and artillery, as the city lies in a low-lying area.
"Any high ground the enemy holds makes road control easier and city attacks more likely. The city’s location puts it at a disadvantage for defense," Popovych stressed.
He says Russian forces are attempting to encircle the city from the north in a tactical “ring” by cutting supply lines with drones. The expert explains that the Russians do not need to surround Ukrainian forces in the traditional sense.
Now it is not necessary to physically encircle troops or territory. It is enough to block logistics. And you don’t even have to physically cut the routes: Put "waiting drones" in place, control the air, and nothing gets through,” he stressed.
Popovych warns that Russian FPV drones on fiber-optic links can reach up to 50 km and cannot be jammed by electronic warfare systems.
