Putin bets on a protracted war: general Malomuzh reveals Russia's plans
Malomuzh says that Ukraine should abandon the stereotype of a protracted war for many years.

Putin has bet on a protracted war, hoping for European fatigue and a potential change in the U.S. president.
Mykola Malomuzh, who served as the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service from 2005 to 2010, expressed this view in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA.
According to him, Russia believes that under such circumstances, Ukraine will agree to all their terms, allowing the Russian army to carry out offensive operations in other regions. However, he is confident that Ukraine can counter these plans through alternative operations, such as those in Kursk. Such actions disorient the occupying army, disrupt their defenses, and force them to maneuver under resource constraints.
"We are beginning to break this strategy. We must abandon the stereotype of a protracted war lasting for years. We see that the Ukrainian General Staff is preparing alternative operations similar to Kursk. There should be more. What about Bryansk? What about Belgorod? And preparing a strategic operation in the occupied territories where the enemy does not expect, where they do not have fortified positions? These are strategic approaches that disorient the enemy, destabilize their forces and defenses, causing confusion and preventing effective maneuvering due to a lack of resources... Here, the prospect of Russia's collapse in 2024-2025 becomes realistic," the expert suggests.
The general believes that Russia will not disintegrate on its own due to its resources, which enable it to continue a protracted war. The population will live in poverty, tightening their belts even further, but the war will persist.
"And, of course, the decisive moment for 2024-2025 will be the preparation of strategic operations to liberate Ukrainian territories," the expert concluded.
