The increase in the size of the Russian army by tens of thousands of soldiers, as decreed by the Russian dictator Putin, indicates a rise in the potential of the occupying forces' army, particularly in the occupied territories.

This was stated by Ihor Romanenko, retired lieutenant general and founder of the "Safe Skies over Ukraine" charitable foundation in a comment to "24 Kanal."

"This means an increase in the potential of the Russian armed forces. Unfortunately, this is particularly evident in the territories of Ukraine that are occupied. We also see how they have enhanced their capabilities on the Kursk front. They have increased their grouping there from 11,000 to 40,000," he said.

According to Romanenko, the Russians have already moved from defense to conducting counteroffensive actions on four fronts.

"The objective of the Russians is to destroy this buffer zone and prevent our forces from holding it. Our task, in turn, is to prevent the Russian armed forces from maintaining a military hub in Sudzha and its surroundings, from which they have continually deployed forces and resources to reinforce the Kharkiv front, potential actions on the Sumy front, where they planned operations," the retired lieutenant general explained.
