Russia prepares major assault: Ukrainian military reports enemy’s objective

Russian forces are preparing for a new large-scale assault on Siversk, in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. The enemy aims to secure positions on the outskirts of the city before the onset of autumn rains.

This was reported on «Suspilne. Studio» by Dmytro Zaporozhets, spokesman for the 11th Army Corps.

According to him, the enemy plans to use heavy equipment to capture positions on the approaches to the city. The goal is to be able to fight in urban conditions throughout the winter.

«On the Siversk axis, the enemy will try, before the rainy autumn, to conduct assault actions again with the use of equipment. We expect another major assault, which may be directed toward the city of Siversk, ” said Dmytro Zaporozhets.

Attacks intensify on the Lyman axis

The spokesman also describes the situation on the neighboring Lyman axis, where the enemy has made advances in the Serebrianskyi forest area. This happened due to a threefold increase in artillery shelling.

Whereas previously 80–90 strikes were recorded daily, now the number reaches 190–200 per day.

Zaporozhets notes that constant shelling has destroyed most of the Serebrianskyi forest. Only tree trunks remain, which, however, do not hinder fighting but even limit the effectiveness of FPV drones using fiber optics.

The spokesman emphasizes that this does not significantly affect combat tactics, since in the Siversk area the enemy had not previously relied on natural cover.
