Russia prepares massive attack on Ukraine: Expert names likely targets

Russia is changing its tactics: a reduction in drone attacks is linked to preparations for a large-scale air operation.

Russia has temporarily decreased the intensity of drone strikes on Ukraine, allowing it to stockpile around 200 "Shahed" drones and decoys for a new wave of attacks. This was said by Dmytro Zhmaylo, co-founder and executive director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, in an article by Focus.

According to the expert, Russia is currently deploying about 140 drones per day, 30 fewer than in previous weeks. This pause is likely connected to the visit of U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia is using this period to replenish its reserves, which may be deployed in the near future. Potential targets of the new attacks include Kyiv and other major regions of the country.
"Russia plans to increase drone production by 10% over the next six months. In this context, the "Alabuga" economic zone plays a key role, where large-scale drone infrastructure development is underway," Zhmaylo noted in comments to Focus.

As of mid-June, the expert estimates that the Russian army has approximately 6,000 "Shahed" drones in its reserves. At the same time, Ukrainian defense forces are actively striking Russia's military-industrial complex, attempting to disrupt the Kremlin's logistics and plans.

The analyst warns that this Russian tactic may precede a massive drone strike on civilian and critical infrastructure. Ukrainian air defenses must be prepared for a potential escalation in the coming weeks.
