Russian forces possess sufficient resources to conduct attacks not only near Kurakhove but also in other sectors of the front.

Military expert and former spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2014–2017), Colonel Vladyslav Selezniov, told this during a broadcast on Espreso.

"Currently, the enemy is actively advancing in seven sectors of the front. If they gain control of territory near Kurakhove, they will redeploy forces and resources to strengthen assault units and push further toward the Pokrovsk agglomeration," he said.

The military expert noted that after the occupation of Vuhledar, there was initially a period of calm, but later the enemy resumed its offensive, complicating the situation for Ukrainian forces near the Sukhyi Yali River, south of Kurakhove.

According to Selezniov, the enemy has sufficient resources to attack not only near Kurakhove, threatening the Pokrovsk agglomeration, but also to create serious challenges for Ukrainian defenders south of Chasiv Yar. This puts the defenders of Toretsk under threat as well.

He also mentioned that the enemy could cause significant problems for Ukrainian defenders in the Kupiansk direction and, in the future, in the Lyman area.

Selezniov believes the enemy is likely to move downstream along the Oskil River to join Russian army units operating toward Lyman. This would allow the enemy to establish a bridgehead, posing a threat to the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. The military expert concluded that the situation at the front remains challenging due to the substantial resources the enemy is willing to expend in its efforts to achieve territorial gains.
