The Russian occupiers are actively advancing towards Toretsk. However, the Defense Forces still have the means to hold the city.

This was stated by Viktor Kevlyuk, a military expert from the Ukrainian Center for Defense Strategies, on the air of "Espreso." According to him, Ukrainian forces can currently hold Toretsk, but battles may take place within the city itself.

"I think that in 7-10 days, the enemy will enter the city and street fighting will begin. In this way, the occupiers aim to complete their attempt to capture the entire Donetsk region within its administrative borders. Accordingly, the enemy will do everything possible in the Siversk, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, Kurakhove and Kramatorsk directions to achieve this goal," - Viktor Kevlyuk said.

He also adds that in the Pokrovsk direction, the occupiers have the forces and means to achieve operational success.

"In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy has achieved tactical success and has the forces and means to turn this success into an operational one. The Russians need to advance 6 km to cut the main logistics routes of the Defense Forces. Such actions by the enemy will create unfavorable conditions for further defense in the Toretsk direction for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Defense Forces will be forced to retreat to the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk-Druzhkivka-Kostiantynivka-Pokrovsk line. This is an undesirable development for us, as we will lose control over very significant territories, which will then need to be liberated," the expert emphasized.
