In the war against Ukraine, the Russian occupying army is using an unknown wheeled self-propelled artillery unit.
This was reported by the "Militarniy" portal, citing a video published by Russian media.
The new self-propelled gun has the same configuration and targeting elements as the 152mm self-propelled howitzer 2S43 "Malva." However, it uses the long-range gun 2A36 "Giatsint-B" in its artillery section. This increases the maximum firing range of the self-propelled gun with conventional high-explosive fragmentation shells from 24.7 km to 30.5 km, and with active-reactive shells from 29 km to 33.1 km.
At the same time, armored vehicle expert Andriy Taranenko, after analyzing the video, claims that this self-propelled gun does not use a new artillery system, based on the 2A36, but is instead a "Giatsint-B" gun mounted on a new chassis, taken from storage.
Currently, new 2A36 guns are not being produced in Russia. Their production was concentrated at the "Motovilikha Plants," which has been in a state of bankruptcy since 2018.
