Yesterday's attack on Ukraine, July 8, was a military-political act by Putin and his entourage.

This opinion was expressed by the founder of the Charitable Foundation "Close the Sky over Ukraine," Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2006-2010), Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, on Espreso TV channel.

"The strike was planned. Russia accumulated various types of missiles and used everything they had. These were aeroballistic missiles launched by MiG-31s. Missiles were also launched from ground-based launchers. Modern Kh-101 missiles were launched from Tu-95MS aerial platforms. The Russians also launched old Kh-22 missiles, which have high speed, from Tu-22M3s. It's possible these are the very planes and missiles we once handed over to the Russians. We must remember who and how did it, and what is happening now," Romanenko said.

He says that the Russians are modernizing the Kh-101 and "Kalibr" missiles, using thermal decoys.

"The enemy launches them in such a way that they fly at low altitude. I believe this was a military-political act by Putin and his entourage. They needed to organize a large-scale crime to show that they will not allow Ukraine to join NATO," Romanenko added.
