The situation around Myrnohrad in Donetsk region remains extremely difficult. The city’s fate is now determined not by the situation near Pokrovsk, but by the fighting in Rodynske, Roman Pohorilyi, an analyst and co-founder of DeepState, told Hromadske Radio.
According to him, Ukrainian troops are still present in Myrnohrad, but the fighting is chaotic. Russian forces have already reached the edges of the city, blurring the line of control.
«Positions are intermixed, and fire exchanges occur constantly. The enemy can appear in almost any area and set up ambushes. It cannot be said that the city is fully under enemy control, but neither can we speak of stable Ukrainian defense at this time, ” Pohorilyi said.
The analyst explained that the key factor for Myrnohrad’s defense is the situation around Rodynske. Intense fighting there will determine the city’s future.
«A narrow corridor with tree cover remains between northern Myrnohrad and Rodynske, allowing some maneuvering. But the enemy is constantly present there, and the airspace in this area is largely controlled by them, ” the DeepState co-founder added.
Commenting on the situation in Pokrovsk, Pohorilyi noted that the city’s fate is a matter of time, as Russian forces gradually advance in its northern districts.
«They are trying to methodically take over the city. Our forces are resisting them through targeted strikes and clearing operations. There are only two possible outcomes: either the enemy becomes exhausted and withdraws to regroup, which is unlikely, or they gradually advance further, ” he said.
The expert also commented on reports about Orikhovo-Vasylivka, previously described by some sources as occupied. A few Ukrainian positions remain in the settlement, but they are not decisive for controlling the area.
«The enemy is essentially moving through these sections. They have already reached Minkivka, and information is being verified regarding its control and possible clearing operations, ” Pohorilyi concluded.
