Russian dictator Volodymyr Putin, speaking at the BRICS summit in Kazan, asserted that Ukraine's attack on Kursk region was an attempt by Kyiv to interfere in the U.S. elections.
This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS.
Putin stated that he considered Ukraine's actions as an intervention by Kyiv to demonstrate to the U.S. that "their investments in Ukraine were not in vain." He also claimed that Ukrainian soldiers would supposedly be unable to use high-tech weapons without direct involvement from NATO military personnel.
"Everyone in BRICS is focused on ending the conflict in Ukraine as quickly as possible and preferably through peaceful means," the dictator remarked.
A cynical statement on peace talks
During his speech, Putin also commented on the possibility of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He claimed that he had received offers for talks mediated by Turkey and had agreed to them. However, he alleged that a day later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to engage in negotiations.
"The leaders of the Kyiv regime do not want talks because it would require lifting martial law and holding elections," Putin stated.
Outrage over NATO expansion
The Kremlin chief once again expressed outrage over what he described as the unjust expansion of NATO. He asserted that Russia would "achieve a change in the situation."
"We said this: it shouldn't be done, as it violates our security - NATO expansion. Yet, it was done anyway. Is this fair? There is no fairness in this, and we want to change this situation, and we will achieve this," he declared.
